Experience: 12+ years in cold chain, HVAC, or industrial refrigeration, with 3-5 years in team management role.
JOB ROLE
Incumbent will lead application engineering and technical solutioning for Cold Room projects, ensuring optimal design, cost efficiency, and alignment with customer requirements. The role focuses on translating business opportunities into technically robust, commercially viable cold storage solutions across industries such as food processing, pharma, logistics, and FMCG.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Engineering & Solution Design
- Design end-to-end cold room solutions including load calculations, refrigeration system selection, and insulation specifications
- Develop optimized system configurations for:
- Cold storage, Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage, Ripening chambers
- Prepare detailed technical proposals, BOQs, and system layouts
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, ISHRAE, and food/pharma regulatory standards
- Technical Support to Sales & Business Development
- Partner with Sales teams to understand client requirements and provide customized techno-commercial solutions
- Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and pre-sales discussions
- Support tendering, bid preparation, and value engineering initiatives
- Provide technical clarifications during proposal and negotiation stages
- Heat Load & System Optimization
- Perform accurate heat load calculations considering:
- Product load, Ambient conditions, Air infiltration, Equipment heat loads
- Recommend energy-efficient refrigeration systems: DX / Pumped systems, Ammonia / Freon-based systems
- Drive optimization of CAPEX and OPEX through design improvements
- Project Engineering & Execution Support
- Handover detailed engineering inputs to execution teams
- Provide support during: Detailed engineering drawings, Installation and commissioning
- Resolve site-level technical challenges and deviation
- Vendor & Technology Management
- Evaluate and develop vendors for: Refrigeration equipment, insulated panels & doors, Controls and automation systems
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies in cold chain solutions
- Standardize components for cost and quality optimization
- Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure designs are compliant with: Food safety standards (FSSAI), Pharma compliance (GDP, GMP where applicable)
- Maintain technical documentation: Design calculations, Engineering drawings, Specification sheets
- Support internal audits and customer approvals
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Sales, Projects, Procurement, Quality, and Service teams
- Act as a technical bridge between customer expectations and execution capability
