Technical Project Manager

Born West is a founder-led, AI-native creative technology and design agency building next-generation digital products, apps, and brand experiences for ambitious clients. We are a small, distributed team spanning North America and India. We are lean, fast, and async-first, and we value people who are proactive, resourceful, and solution-oriented.

We are hiring a Technical Project Manager to own the delivery of individual projects and broader client programs end to end. You are the single point of accountability connecting client, product owner, design, and engineering — keeping everyone in sync, mostly asynchronously, across multiple time zones. This is a fully remote role that rewards attention to detail, clear writing, and a big-picture mindset.

• Async-first. We default to asynchronous communication and decisions are documented in writing rather than trapped in meetings.
• Distributed across time zones. You will keep a team aligned across North America and India. We expect at least 4 hours of daily overlap with North American business hours (PT–ET), with async collaboration alongside our India team.
• AI is how we work. Daily working fluency with LLMs and AI tools is expected, not aspirational. AI is part of how we plan, build, and ship every day.
  

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of creative and technical projects (websites, apps, digital products and experiences) — on time, on scope, and on budget.
• Own day-to-day operations: schedules, budgets, scope, resourcing, dependencies, and risk.
• Act as the single point of accountability and the primary client contact through execution.
• Keep the product owner, design, and dev teams in sync — surfacing blockers early and documenting decisions in writing.
• Map requirements, plan sprints, and run project boards (Scrum and Kanban) across the full project lifecycle.
• Facilitate standups, reviews, retros, and stakeholder syncs — and keep the team updated asynchronously in between.
  

• Manage overarching client programs made up of multiple interconnected projects.
• Align cross-project work to client business and brand goals; keep deliverables, timelines, and messaging consistent.
• Partner with client stakeholders on roadmaps, phasing, prioritization, and value delivery.
• Track program-level KPIs and report progress, dependencies, and risks to leadership.
  

• 5–8 years managing cross-functional creative and technical projects in an agency, studio, or fast-paced product environment.
• Familiarity with full-stack development — comfortable reasoning about both frontend and backend, modern web applications, and APIs (REST/GraphQL) well enough to plan work and talk credibly with engineers.
• Experience managing projects that are built using AI tools, plus hands-on familiarity using AI tools in your own day-to-day workflow.
• Proven experience managing remote teams across multiple time zones.
• Takes complete ownership of projects end to end — including direct client communication and keeping the product owner, design team, and dev team in sync.
• Fluent with Scrum and Kanban boards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication — written especially, since we operate asynchronously.
• Able to keep a distributed team updated asynchronously, without relying on live meetings.
• Fluency in English.
  

• Experience working with a team on Ruby on Rails.
• Experience managing projects that use agentic coding tools and AI harnesses.
• Experience using Linear for project management and issue tracking.
• Background in digital production, UX design, or software development.
• Exposure to interactive/experiential tech (AR/VR, WebGL, installations).
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) or Airtable
