Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team, supporting multiple structural steel projects across Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and assessing project variations, completing quantity take-offs, reviewing drawings and specifications, and working closely with project teams to ensure accurate pricing and documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong structural steel experience who enjoys working in a collaborative remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assess variations across multiple structural steel projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to identify scope changes.
- Complete quantity take-offs and measurements for structural steel works.
- Prepare variation pricing models and supporting documentation.
- Review design revisions and additional works to determine cost impacts.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Contract Administrators on variation submissions.
- Maintain accurate variation registers and project documentation.
- Provide regular updates and reports on variation progress.
- Support project teams with quantity and pricing information as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Planner within the construction industry.
- Strong background in structural steel projects, preferably large-scale fabrication and installation.
- Experience preparing and assessing project variations.
- Ability to interpret structural steel drawings, specifications, and scope documentation.
- Strong understanding of quantity take-offs, measurements, and construction pricing.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with project teams and communicating technical information.
- Ability to work independently in a remote team environment.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with structural steel estimating for commercial or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with local building codes, standards, and industry practices.
- Experience working with offshore or remote teams is a plus.
- Understanding of supply chain and procurement for steel and related materials.
