Role Overview
The I/O Engineering Consultant is responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and efficient enterprise endpoint and device management services across a dual Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) environment.
This is a hands-on engineering and operations role focused on Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM. The position supports the full endpoint lifecycle, including application packaging and deployment, operating system servicing, patch management, vulnerability remediation, endpoint configuration, platform health, and operational troubleshooting.
The role requires strong technical troubleshooting capabilities and disciplined IT service management practices. The successful candidate will also participate in major incident resolution activities and contribute to automation and practical AI-enabled improvements that enhance service reliability, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Endpoint Platform Operations & Service Reliability
- Administer and support enterprise endpoint management platforms across a dual UEM environment.
- Monitor and maintain platform health, availability, stability, and overall operational performance.
- Monitor endpoint client health, device enrollment, policy deployment, application delivery, and content distribution.
- Identify and resolve platform issues that may affect endpoint compliance, service availability, or the end-user experience.
- Maintain operational standards and practices that support reliable and consistent endpoint services.
Application Lifecycle & Endpoint Management
- Support the end-to-end application lifecycle, including application packaging, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Manage endpoint configurations and policies across supported device management platforms.
- Support operating system servicing and endpoint lifecycle activities.
- Troubleshoot application deployment, device configuration, enrollment, and policy-related issues.
- Help ensure consistent endpoint management and user experience across coexisting UEM platforms.
Patch Management & Vulnerability Remediation
- Manage endpoint patching activities using MECM/SCCM, including automated deployment rules, deployment rings, maintenance windows, and compliance reporting.
- Execute vulnerability remediation activities based on defined remediation plans and timelines.
- Validate patching and remediation outcomes to ensure endpoint compliance requirements are achieved.
- Monitor compliance status and address gaps that may affect security or operational performance.
Dual UEM Administration - Administer and support endpoint environments using:
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM)
- Microsoft Intune
- Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM
- Support coexistence between multiple endpoint management platforms.
- Identify and minimize policy conflicts across UEM environments.
- Maintain consistent configuration, compliance, and application delivery across managed endpoints.
Incident, Problem & Change Management
- Troubleshoot complex endpoint and device management issues and drive incidents toward timely resolution.
- Participate in major incident bridges and technical war rooms, providing clear and concise updates during service restoration activities.
- Support efforts to reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) and meet agreed service level requirements.
- Apply established Incident, Problem, and Change Management practices.
- Prepare clear change plans, implementation procedures, validation steps, and operational documentation.
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement following significant incidents.
Automation & Scripting
- Use PowerShell to automate repetitive administrative, remediation, and operational activities.
- Develop repeatable runbooks, operational procedures, and technical checklists.
- Support safe and controlled rollout practices for automation and endpoint changes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve service reliability through automation.
AI Adoption & Continuous Improvement - Identify practical opportunities to use approved AI tools to improve documentation, technical analysis, and knowledge management.
- Contribute ideas and pilot use cases that may improve operational efficiency, such as:
- Ticket triage assistance
- Automated log analysis
- Runbook and documentation generation
- Identify repetitive operational activities that may benefit from automation or AI-assisted workflows.
- Ensure the use of AI-enabled tools remains aligned with applicable security, privacy, and data-handling standards.
Qualifications
Required
- At least 6 years of hands-on administrative experience with MECM/SCCM.
- At least 3 years of hands-on administrative experience with Microsoft Intune.
- At least 1 year of hands-on administrative experience with Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM.
- Strong experience in enterprise endpoint management, platform operations, health monitoring, and service availability.
- Hands-on experience with patch management and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Strong PowerShell scripting experience for automation and operational remediation.
- Experience participating in major incident bridges or technical war rooms.
- Working knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change Management practices.
- Strong ownership of SLA performance, service reliability, and MTTR improvement.
- Ability to develop clear technical documentation, runbooks, operational checklists, and change plans.
