About This Opportunity
Ericsson is a global leader in telecom, enabling the Networked Society across 175 countries. We’re hiring a Cloud System Expert (Senior OpenShift Engineer) to lead migration, modernization, and operation of enterprise container platforms (Red Hat OpenShift) across on prem and multi cloud environments. This is a hands on technical leadership role focused on transforming legacy workloads to cloud native platforms with high availability, security, and automation.
What you will do
- Lead migrations from KVM/VMware/OpenStack, on prem Kubernetes, and OpenShift 3.x to OpenShift 4.x.
- Assess and modernize monolithic apps for containerization, microservices, or replatforming with minimal downtime.
- Design, deploy and manage scalable, multi cluster OpenShift architectures across on prem and public clouds.
- Implement automation for migrations and operations using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, and GitOps (ArgoCD/FluxCD).
- Define resource quotas, autoscaling, and performance tuning for production workloads.
- Enforce security and compliance: RBAC, network/pod policies, image scanning, and CIS/NIST alignment.
- Build observability and CI/CD: Prometheus/Grafana, centralized logging (ELK/Loki), Jenkins/GitLab CI, ArgoCD.
- Mentor and lead cross functional teams; document runbooks, best practices, and migration plans.
The skills you bring
- Strong hands on experience with OpenShift (OCP 4.x+), Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
- Proven application migration knowledge: Lift & Shift, Replatforming, Refactoring for cloud native.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) with OpenShift deployments and hybrid/multi cloud design.
- Automation and IaC skills: Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Bash/Python scripting.
- GitOps experience (ArgoCD/FluxCD) and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
- Security and observability expertise: image scanning (Trivy/Clair/Quay), RBAC, Prometheus/Grafana, logging stacks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities.
