Context

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of electrical engineering solutions for a wide range of projects. Specifically for Power System (HV, MV, LV), Lighting, Small power, & ELV systems. This role provides advanced technical expertise across all phases of project execution, from concept development and detailed design to construction support and commissioning. Oversees the preparation and review of electrical design documents, calculations, specifications, and drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and company quality procedures

Missions/Main Duties

  • Performs and oversees a comprehensive range of electrical design and engineering calculation activities to ensure system safety, functionality, efficiency, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. These include, but are not limited to, load calculations, voltage drop calculations, cable sizing, containment sizing, lighting lux calculations, short circuit studies, distribution system layout development, load flow analysis, earthing and grounding calculations, and other technical assessments required to complete project design requirements.
  • Performs and reviews ELV system design and calculation work, including fire alarm systems, building management systems, access control systems, and other ELV systems as required by the project, ensuring proper integration, operability, and compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Ensures full compliance with the Philippine National Standards (PNS), Philippine Electrical Code, NEC, IEEE Standards, Fire Code of the Philippines, NFPA, and all other relevant local and international codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the project.
  • Collaborates closely with internal and external project teams, including other engineering disciplines, clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, to ensure the seamless integration of electrical and ELV systems into the overall project design and execution strategy.
  • Prepares and provides regular reports on project progress, issues, concerns, constraints, and corresponding resolutions to the MEPF Manager, Team Lead, Senior Management, and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring timely communication, effective monitoring of deliverables, and proper escalation of critical matters.
  • Supports project planning, technical decision-making, resource coordination, and design review activities, while carrying out other responsibilities as assigned by the MEPF Manager, Team Lead, or authorized project leadership in support of project requirements.
  • Promotes the sharing of technical knowledge, engineering standards, and industry best practices while mentoring junior engineers and designers to strengthen their technical capability and enhance overall team performance and project delivery quality.
  • Provides technical guidance and supervision to drafters, designers, and junior engineers by preparing, reviewing, and approving drawing mark-ups and design instructions, and by serving as a technical reference to support the production of accurate engineering drawings and coordinated deliverables.
  • Reviews, checks, and monitors design deliverables to ensure that work prepared by drafters and engineers is completed efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with company QA/QC procedures, technical standards, and project requirements.
  • Ensures that all design processes, calculations, QA/QC reviews, revisions, technical evaluations, iterations, and test analyses are properly documented, organized, and stored in the SPI server or designated project drive in compliance with project documentation and document control requirements.
  • As necessary/required in the project:
    • Conducts site surveys, existing facility assessments, and feasibility studies for renovation, rehabilitation, and new projects as required.
    • Reviews and recommendations of vendor submittals, technical proposals, and test reports to verify quality, compliance, and suitability for project application.
    • Provides construction and technical support during project execution, including responses to RFIs, submittal reviews, preparation of design specification documents, and development of operational manuals.
Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PEE or Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Proven experience (minimum 8 years) in leadership roles overseeing Electrical Engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, electrical standards, V.E. techniques, and electrical design principles.
  • Proficiency in using engineering and design software ( ETAP, DiAlux, AutoCAD, and other applicable design software for electrical). Knowledge in Revit and BIM is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and budgets effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire team members.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail and quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainable engineering practices, energy efficiency standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Capability to lead cross-functional projects and work with consultant, designer, contractors, and stakeholders.
