About The Role
You'll own manual and exploratory quality coverage for card and payment backend systems — validating transaction flows, back-office processes, and integrations across a REST-based microservice architecture.
What You'll Do
- Work on backend services supporting card operations and payment flows: authorizations, captures, reversals, refunds, and chargebacks.
- Validate transaction data across REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and Kafka — including event contracts, stored data, and operational workflows.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product managers to investigate defects and improve test coverage as the platform scales.
What You'll Own
- Test backend services and validate end-to-end transaction flows, including authorization, hold, capture, reversal, and refund scenarios.
- Verify back-office processes: reconciliation, corrections, and operational workflows.
- Execute regression testing during releases, infrastructure changes, and platform migrations.
- Create and maintain test cases, checklists, and test documentation.
- Analyze defects, document findings, and drive resolution with engineering and product teams.
- Collect and track QA metrics to improve testing effectiveness and product quality.
- Contribute to API-level automation of transaction flow testing as coverage expands.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
- Experience testing backend systems and REST APIs.
- Confident use of Postman or similar API testing tools.
- Experience with PostgreSQL — writing queries and validating stored data.
- Experience with Kafka — event validation, topic analysis, and contract verification.
- Understanding of card processing and payment flows: authorization, hold, capture, reversal, chargeback.
- Ability to read code in Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Strong grasp of software testing principles, defect investigation, and test design techniques.
