Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer to design, develop, customize, and maintain high-performing WordPress websites. The ideal candidate has strong experience with theme and plugin development, performance optimization, and security best practices, and can collaborate with designers, content teams, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
Job roles
- Develop and maintain WordPress websites, including custom themes and plugins.
- Customize existing themes/plugins to meet business requirements and ensure compatibility with WordPress updates.
- Convert UI/UX designs into responsive, accessible, cross-browser front-end pages.
- Integrate third-party services and APIs (e.g., payment gateways, CRMs, analytics, email platforms).
- Optimize site performance (caching, image optimization, Core Web Vitals) and ensure SEO-friendly implementation.
- Implement security best practices, backups, and monitoring; troubleshoot vulnerabilities and issues.
- Manage hosting environments and deployments; coordinate staging/production releases.
- Diagnose and resolve bugs, plugin conflicts, and database issues; provide ongoing support.
- Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code; follow coding standards and version control workflows (Git).
- Collaborate with designers, QA, and content teams to deliver features on schedule.
Work experience
Required: Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites, including hands-on experience with custom theme/plugin development and troubleshooting in live production environments.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with Gutenberg/Block Editor development; familiarity with page builders (Element or/Divi) is a plus.
- Custom theme development (template hierarchy, hooks, WP_Query) and plugin development.
- Understanding of MySQL and WordPress database structure; ability to write and optimize queries.
- Experience with REST APIs and integrations; basic understanding of AJAX.
- Performance tuning (caching, CDN concepts, minification) and Core Web Vitals optimization.
- Security best practices (roles/permissions, sanitization/escaping, hardening, updates).
- Version control using Git; familiarity with deployment workflows and staging environments.
- SEO implementation (structured data basics, metadata, sitemaps/robots.txt) and accessibility implementation (semantic HTML, ARIA where needed).
