Overview:
Apex Investment Administration New Zealand is seeking a
Senior Report Writer to join its Cloud Data Platform (CDP) team. This role is central to supporting over $140 billion in assets by developing, maintaining, and modernizing data pipelines and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring accurate, secure, and timely data delivery to investment and wealth management clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain robust reports and dashboards using SQL, Power BI, and SSRS.
- Develop and manage domain models for financial data and ensure reliable data integration into the CDP.
- Uphold data security and accuracy through automated testing, peer reviews, and documentation.
- Mentor team members and promote best practices in data engineering and reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and central data teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business goals.
- Manage multiple projects, provide accurate estimations, and respond to changing priorities.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to team planning and delivery improvement.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Advanced SQL skills and strong analytical/problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven experience in report and dashboard development using SSRS and Power BI.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control (Git).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with the Azure ecosystem (DevOps, Data Factory).
- Knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Fivetran), and data platforms like Snowflake and dbt.
- Understanding of data governance, security controls (RBAC, data masking), and financial industry practices.
