Role Purpose
As a Level 2 Network Consulting Engineer to assume a pivotal role in implementing Networking projects. This dynamic position entails delivering comprehensive network engineering and assessment services, configuring and deploying intricate solution architectures with a strong focus on security components, and cutting-edge network infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement configuration, installation and support of networking switching, wireless services, routing, and firewall infrastructure to maintain service availability, security, and flexibility to meet evolving operational demands.
- Work with a keen eye for detail within a network and security context across public, hybrid and private cloud environments.
- Ability to run technical workshops and deliver detailed designs for customers.
- Managing competing priorities in a complex environment and devise creative technical solutions
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to managed service delivery, project delivery, profitability, customer satisfaction, and training.
- Design and implement network solutions to improve or optimise existing infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and support networking equipment like routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (WAPs)
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role, with a focus on network security, design, and implementation.
- Strong experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise network solutions, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud environments.
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or other relevant tertiary qualifications, or equivalent practical experience in network engineering.
- Solid understanding of network security frameworks such as ISO27001, PCI DSS, NIST, and their practical application in network design and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and other key technologies.
- Ability to interpret and apply industry standards, policies, and legislation in the context of network security and architecture.
- Experience working with or managing networks from major vendors such as Aruba/HPE, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and Extreme Networks, with the ability to configure, troubleshoot, and optimize their solutions.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of network-related tasks and projects, while also collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, implement solutions, and optimize network performance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and non-technical teams.
