Fieldtrip Hospitality is a design-driven luxury short-term rental company managing architecturally significant homes across Southern California, including Joshua Tree, the Coachella Valley, Malibu, and other high-demand destinations. Our portfolio includes properties like the Invisible House in Joshua Tree, one of the most recognized vacation homes in the world.

We operate in a high-transaction environment, combining company operating accounting with property-level trust accounting and owner reporting across roughly 90 homes.

Role Overview:

This is a leadership role responsible for running accounting operations. The Accounting Manager / Controller will supervise accounting staff and offshore team members while owning month-end close, trust accounting accuracy, and financial reporting. You will work directly with the CEO and VP of Operations alongside a fractional CFO.

We are looking for an operator—someone who builds systems, improves processes, and drives accountability—not just someone who reviews bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own month-end close and ensure reconciled balance sheets
• Oversee trust account reconciliations and ensure owner statement accuracy
• Supervise approximately 90 monthly owner payouts
• Manage accounting staff and offshore team members
• Standardize close procedures and improve workflow efficiency
• Support budget vs actual reporting and variance analysis
• Coordinate with external CPA firms and manage compliance tasks

First 90 Days:

• Fully own the month-end close process
• Deliver reconciled balance sheets monthly
• Ensure accurate and timely owner statements
• Implement documented close procedures and controls
• Reduce executive involvement in accounting

Qualifications:

Required:

• 7–10 years accounting experience
• Experience owning full month-end close
• Experience managing accounting staff
• Strong reconciliation and internal controls expertise
• Experience managing remote or offshore teams
• Strong English communication skills
• Ability to work PST hours
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar SMB accounting systems

Preferred:

• Property management, hospitality, or trust accounting experience
• Experience in high-transaction accounting environments
• Experience implementing automation or AI tools in accounting workflows
• Big 4 or mid-tier accounting background

Compensation:

• $3,000 – $6,000 USD per month
• Performance bonus potential and growth opportunity as the company scales
