Key Responsibilities

Review inpatient medical records including discharge summaries, operative reports, lab reports, and physician notes
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM (diagnosis) and ICD-10-PCS (procedure) codes
Perform DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) assignment and validation
Ensure coding complies with official guidelines such as CMS, AHIMA, and AHA standards
Identify missing or incomplete documentation and initiate physician queries when needed
Maintain high levels of coding accuracy, quality, and productivity
Work on complex cases including ICU stays, surgeries, and multi-specialty admissions
Meet daily productivity targets and quality benchmarks
Stay updated with coding changes, regulations, and payer-specific requirements
Collaborate with QA teams and auditors for coding reviews and feedback

Qualifications

Any Life Sciences graduate (BSc, BPharm, Nursing, etc.)
Certified coder preferred (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC from AAPC or AHIMA)
13 years of experience in inpatient medical coding (IPDRG preferred)
