Korean‑Speaking Python Engineer – AI‑Assisted Legal Research
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Work Style: Hybrid (2–3 days in office)
About The Role
We’re looking for a
Korean‑speaking Python Engineer to help expand an existing
AI‑assisted legal research platform from Japan to Korea.
This role focuses on building and improving
AI‑powered search and retrieval systems used by legal professionals. You’ll work with large‑scale legal content, multilingual data, and modern AI architectures to help users find, understand, and refine legal answers more efficiently.
This is
not an AI model training or research scientist role. Instead, it’s a hands‑on engineering position working on
real, production AI systems.
What You’ll Do
- Extend AI‑assisted legal research systems to support Korean‑language legal content
- Build and improve backend pipelines for:
- Content chunking and vectorization
- Hybrid search (keyword + semantic search)
- Result ranking and prompt customization
- Improve retrieval quality for Korean legal queries
- Collaborate closely with:
- Backend and AI engineers
- Frontend engineers
- Korean legal subject‑matter experts
- Contribute to AI systems powering multiple legal research and assistant products
What We’re Looking For
Must‑Have
- Strong Python development experience
- Practical understanding of AI‑assisted search systems, including:
- Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Vector search / OpenSearch
- Hybrid (lexical + semantic) search
- Experience working with production backend systems
- Ability to read and communicate in Korean (for content and collaboration)
Nice to Have
- Experience with multilingual or NLP‑based systems
- Background in data or platform engineering
- Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
Why Join
- Work on real AI products used by legal professionals — not demos
- Shape how AI understands and delivers complex legal information
- Collaborate across Japan and Korea on region‑defining AI solutions
- High ownership, visible impact, and strong technical influence
- Opportunity to expand AI capabilities into a new market
