This job is based in the community of Dawson City in beautiful Yukon .

Your role
This position is responsible for the planning, supervision, and evaluation of Maintenance, Environmental and Food Services within Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML). The incumbent supports provision of a clean, safe, functional and supportive environment, while also overseeing nutritious, culturally appropriate meal service for clients/residents and general maintenance of the care home. The role involves team leadership and supervision, quality assurance, inventory control, and collaboration with partners to uphold Accreditation Canada standards of person-centred care as well as Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and building standards, aligned with Continuing Care’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.
- Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Industry, Environmental Services, Facilities Management or Food and Nutritional Sciences.
- Experience in housekeeping, laundry, and food services.
- Experience overseeing the responsibilities of building maintenance.
- Supervisory experience in a healthcare environment including staffing is an asset.

Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed o n, the following:
- Knowledge of person-centred care principles within long-term care environments.
- Understanding of Accreditation Canada standards, food safety regulations, occupational health and safety legislation, and infection prevention and control practices.
- Familiarity with Canada’s Food Guide, therapeutic diets, and culturally appropriate meal planning.
- Awareness of building systems, preventative maintenance programs, and working with facilities or property management services.
- Strong people leadership skills, coaching and training to members of the team
- Clear and respectful verbal and written communication skills, including ability to address concerns from residents, families, staff and partners.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in fast-paced and resource-constrained environments.
- Strong understanding of working with various cultural backgrounds.

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
- TB screening
- Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance
- Food Safe Level 1 (issued in the last 2 years)
- WHMIS 2015
- Valid class 5 Drivers Licence
Job Requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Shift work, exposure to animals, latex products, second hand smoke from residents, some travel within the Yukon.
