Role Description

The Company Health Physician is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing medical and occupational health services for employees, ensuring compliance with Republic Act 11058, DOLE Department Order No. 198-18 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards), and relevant Philippine health and labor regulations. The role is pivotal in preventing, diagnosing, and managing work-related illnesses and injuries, while supporting workplace safety, health programs, and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Occupational Health and Medical Services:
  • Provide medical consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for both work-related and non-work-related illnesses and injuries
  • Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical examinations
  • Evaluate employee fitness for work, issuing medical decisions and recommending work restrictions or accommodations as necessary
  • Oversee clinic operations to ensure the proper delivery of medical services
  • Supervise occupational health nurses and clinic personnel
  • DOLE and OSH Law Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with RA 11058, DOLE Department Order No. 198-18, and other occupational health regulations
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and review of the company’s Occupational Safety and Health Program (OSHP) and policies
  • Provide medical input in hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
  • Participate in Safety and Health Committee activities
  • Prepare and submit medical and OSH-related reports required by DOLE, ensuring company compliance
  • Workplace Hazard and Health Risk Management:
  • Conduct medical surveillance for employees exposed to occupational hazards
  • Evaluate workplace health risks and recommend preventive and control measures
  • Investigate cases of occupational illnesses and workplace injuries
  • Offer professional recommendations for workplace health policies and procedures
  • Emergency Preparedness and Incident Management:
  • Lead medical responses during workplace emergencies, accidents, or outbreaks
  • Develop and implement emergency medical preparedness and disaster response plans
  • Coordinate with hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical service providers
  • Review and analyze accident and illness reports, recommending preventive strategies
  • Health Promotion and Preventive Programs:
  • Develop and implement employee health and wellness programs
  • Assist with activities related to HMO (medical insurance) benefits
  • Conduct health education campaigns, including but not limited to:
  • Occupational disease prevention
  • Mental health awareness
  • Lifestyle disease prevention
  • Ergonomics and workplace health awareness
  • Assist in vaccination and health surveillance programs as required by DOLE or DOH
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of employee medical records
  • Prepare and submit medical and occupational health reports as required by DOLE and DOH
  • Monitor and evaluate workplace health trends, recommending improvements
  • Training and Advisory Role:
  • Provide training and medical guidance on occupational health and safety practices
  • Advise management on workplace health risks and regulatory compliance
  • Support OSH training programs, including first aid and emergency response

Qualifications

  • Must be a Licensed Physician in the Philippines (PRC Registered)
  • Completion of Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training for Physicians
  • Advanced training in Occupational Medicine is an advantage
  • At least one year of clinical experience
  • Experience in an occupational or corporate health setting is preferred
  • Amenable to midshift or shifting schedule as required by company operations
