Responsibilities And Accountabilities

Monitoring, Reporting (Financial), and Compliance

  • Review monthly project expenses, account codes, and budget lines used, and monitor against approved budget. Monitor office response and continuously follow up unresolved issues.
  • Monthly review and clean-up of outstanding commitments (purchase requests and purchase orders).
  • Prepare invoices and payment requests for submission to the donor.
  • Monitor account receivables and coordinate clearing of received funds and requests of official receipts.
  • Monthly review of staff projectization in the system to ensure alignment of staff charges with the approved budget. Coordinate with relevant field offices and units for issues and necessary updates.
  • Generate and create financial and statistics reports as required by the project management or the donor.
  • Draft donor financial reports for supervisors review.

Other Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Initiate creation of new project codes in the system including summarizing issues encountered and relay to supervisor for immediate action.
  • Assist in providing necessary guidance and assistance to offices on the projects projectization practices, project structure compliance, budget, accounting process, and other queries on practices related to the project implementation.
  • Assist in coordinating with support colleagues for resolution of technical issues and process enhancements.
  • Perform other related tasks as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications And Experience

Education

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Business Administration with five years of relevant work experience.
  • Professional certification as Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be a distinct advantage.

Experience

  • Experience in administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management, and internal control procedures.
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in an international organization is an advantage.

Skills

  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Ability to work with national and international institutions.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.
