About Swiggy Instamart
Swiggy Instamart is redefining convenience commerce in India with 10-15 min grocery delivery at scale. We operate 500+ dark stores across 25+ cities. The Projects team owns end-to-end rollout of new stores, infra upgrades, and strategic ops initiatives that directly impact speed, cost, and customer experience.
Role Overview
As
Lead – Projects, you will own large-scale, cross-functional initiatives for Instamart. From launching new dark stores to driving productivity programs across cities, you’ll be the single-threaded leader responsible for planning, execution, and delivery. This is a high-ownership role with P&L impact and CXO visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- New Store Launches & Network Expansion
- Lead end-to-end project management for new dark store launches: site finalization, layout, capex planning, vendor onboarding, compliance, hiring, and go-live
- Coordinate with Real Estate, City Ops, Finance, Category, and Tech teams to hit launch timelines
- Build playbooks to reduce TAT for store setup from LOI to first order
- Ops Excellence & Productivity Projects
- Drive projects on throughput improvement, pick/pack efficiency, manpower optimization, and cost per order reduction
- Identify bottlenecks using data and run experiments/pilots before scaling city-wide
- Own business case, ROI tracking, and post-launch impact assessment
- Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management
- Work with Central Ops, City GMs, Category, Finance, Product, and Engineering to align on goals
- Drive weekly governance, escalate risks early, and unblock teams
- Present progress to Instamart leadership and Swiggy senior management
- Process, Automation & Scale
- Standardize project templates, SOPs, and tooling for repeatable execution
- Partner with Product/Tech to automate manual workflows in store ops and supply chain
- Build mechanisms for knowledge transfer across cities
- Team & Vendor Management
- Manage a small team of project managers/associates
- Own vendor relationships for infra, MHE, fixtures, and ensure quality + cost compliance
What We’re Looking For
- Experience - 5-8 years in Project/Program Management, E-comm/Q-commerce background preferred
- Education - Btech + strong ops experience
- Core Skills - Project management, stakeholder management, data-driven decision making, P&L mindset
- Tools - Strong on Excel/Gsheets, SQL basics preferred. Jira/Asana/Project tools a plus
- Behavioural -Bias for action, high ownership, thrives in ambiguity, hands-on leader
- Bonus - Experience in dark store ops, retail rollout, warehouse setup, or last-mile ops
KPIs You’ll Own
- New store launch TAT & capex per store
- % of stores launched on-time, on-budget
- Cost per order impact from projects delivered
- Ops productivity metrics: OPH, pick time, fill rate
- Adoption rate of new processes/SOPs
