Sr. API Integration Engineer

Contract

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established, publicly traded manufacturer and distributor of heavy building products with decades of operating history and a national footprint spanning multiple facilities across the United States. The company serves a broad range of commercial and residential construction markets, offering a portfolio of essential materials used throughout the industry. With a lean, performance-driven culture, they prioritize operational efficiency and continuous improvement — and are now investing meaningfully in enterprise technology modernization to support long-term growth.

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Sr. API Integration Engineer to support enterprise-wide integration initiatives across multiple business units and platforms. This is a contract engagement in which you will play a key role in helping modernize and automate internal processes by designing, supporting, and improving API-driven integrations across systems including ITSM platforms, onboarding tools, reporting environments, ERP ecosystems, and internally developed applications.

You will partner closely with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and build scalable integration frameworks that support the company’s long-term technology strategy. Day-to-day, you can expect to work across a variety of platforms — troubleshooting integrations, collaborating with infrastructure and applications teams, participating in architecture discussions, and contributing to documentation and governance efforts.

This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to directly influence the future architecture and integration direction of the organization. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and is equally comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, support, and maintain enterprise API integrations across multiple internal systems and platforms.
  • Assist with automation initiatives tied to onboarding, service management, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Support integrations involving platforms such as Freshservice, Lumos, UKG, Oracle/OIC environments, and internal applications and service catalogs.
  • Troubleshoot and improve API performance, reliability, and monitoring.
  • Develop scalable integration frameworks and reusable API patterns.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, applications, and business teams to identify integration gaps and opportunities.
  • Assist in building and improving internal API management processes and governance.
  • Support reporting and data movement initiatives through API-based solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions surrounding Azure DevOps, GitHub workflows, SDKs, and integration tooling.
  • Help reduce reliance on third-party connectors by building more sustainable in-house integration solutions.
  • Document integration processes, workflows, and technical solutions.

Required Experience / Skills

  • 8+ years of experience working with enterprise API integrations and/or integration development.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs and modern integration concepts.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems and cross-platform integrations.
  • Familiarity with scripting or development languages such as Python.
  • Experience troubleshooting API performance and integration issues.
  • Experience working with workflow automation and service-based architectures.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • SDK integration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ITSM platforms, particularly Freshservice.
  • Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
