Description
The Junior Accountant will work closely with senior accountants and management to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies, and continuous process improvements.
Production And Financial Reporting
- Perform routine accounting tasks, including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve variances by collaborating with internal teams and escalating unresolved issues to senior accountants or management.
- Classify and clear reconciliation items following company guidelines, ensuring compliance with the 7-day variance and 90-day SOX write-off policy.
- Maintain ownership of assigned tasks by proactively monitoring progress, identifying and resolving issues, escalating concerns when necessary, and ensuring timely and accurate completion in accordance with company policies and deadlines.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting and close packages for assigned portfolios.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure all documentation is PCI-compliant, properly filed, and organized according to company policies.
- Run, import, distribute, and save financial reports as per schedule.
- Monitor and manage assigned Settlement email inboxes, ensuring timely responses and issue resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Projects, Developments And Efficiencies
- Assist in the implementation, testing, and enhancement of accounting systems
- Participate in process automation initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Help develop and maintain electronic documentation systems, including Google shared drives and other internal record-keeping tools.
- Support the standardization and maintenance of general onboarding documents, production logs, variance logs, and issue logs.
- Assist in the preparation of new and updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Actively participate in system testing, including System Integration Testing (SIT), System Acceptance Testing (SAT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Assist management and senior accountants with special requests, financial analyses, and ad hoc projects.
- Participate in at least one intra-department initiative (e.g., process improvement project, committee, or working group).
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or Accounting required
- Experience: 0-1 years of accounting experience (internship or entry-level accounting experience preferred).
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, Frontier, SAP).
- Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Drive) is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze variances, investigate discrepancies, and provide logical explanations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external auditors.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize work efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and organizational skills, ensuring compliance with financial standards and regulations.
- Initiative & Problem-Solving: Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks, identify issues, and work proactively to resolve them.
