Job Summary
The Cost Manager is responsible for the cost and commercial management of commercial office fit‑out projects, covering both Interior Design (ID) and Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) works. The role supports projects from early design through construction and close‑out, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, programme requirements, and quality standards.
This role is ideal for a cost professional experienced in tenant fit‑outs, corporate workplaces, refurbishments, and restacking works, working closely with designers, project managers, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Budget Management
- Prepare initial cost estimates, detailed cost plans, and budgets for office fit‑out projects at all design stages.
- Provide cost advice during design development, including space planning, materials selection, finishes, and construction methods.
- Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with client budgets and commercial objectives.
Interior Design (ID) Cost Management – Office Fit‑Out
- Manage cost planning and control for office interior works, including partitions, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, joinery, pantry fit‑outs, meeting rooms, and workplace amenities.
- Manage costing for FF&E, loose furniture, audiovisual elements, and specialist office requirements.
- Advise on cost implications of design changes, upgrades, and fast‑track delivery strategies common to office fit‑out projects.
CSA Cost Management – Fit‑Out & Refurbishment
- Prepare and manage cost estimates for fit‑out related CSA works, including minor structural works, raised floors, architectural modifications, façade interfaces, and refurbishment scope.
- Coordinate CSA and ID costs to ensure clear scope boundaries and avoid gaps or overlaps with building base‑build works.
- Support constructability reviews and value engineering for refurbishment and occupied‑building environments.
Tendering & Procurement
- Prepare tender documentation for office fit‑out trade packages, including ID and CSA works.
- Manage tender processes including tender queries, analysis, evaluation reports, and commercial recommendations.
- Advise on procurement strategies suitable for fast‑paced commercial office fit‑out projects.
Post‑Contract, Change & Commercial Management
- Manage post‑contract cost control, including progress valuations, variations, and change orders.
- Assess contractor claims and certify interim payments accurately and timely.
- Support final account settlement and commercial close‑out.
Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination
- Prepare regular cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial summaries for clients and project teams.
- Attend design, coordination, and site meetings to provide cost and commercial input.
- Work closely with Interior Designers, Project Managers, Engineers, and Contractors to align design, delivery, and budget objectives.
Governance & Knowledge Management
- Ensure compliance with agreed cost management processes and governance requirements.
- Capture project cost data, lessons learned, and best practices for continuous improvement across office fit‑out projects.
