Position Summary
Westcoast Precision is seeking a highly organized and proactive Supply Planner to support production planning, material sourcing, vendor coordination, and job tracking across our manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for sourcing raw materials and outside services, creating and maintaining engineering routers, coordinating with vendors and internal teams, and tracking jobs from material release through completion to help ensure on-time delivery and smooth execution.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and able to communicate effectively with suppliers, production personnel, engineering, and US-based team members across time zones.
Key Responsibilities
Material Sourcing & Procurement
- Source raw materials, hardware, and outside processing services required for production jobs
- Request and compare supplier quotations for materials, machining support, plating, heat treat, anodize, and other outside services
- Place purchase orders and coordinate with approved vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Monitor supplier lead times, pricing, and performance, and escalate potential delays or issues as needed
- Work with internal teams to identify alternate sources when supply, quality, or lead time risks arise
Production Planning & Engineering Routers
- Create, review, and maintain engineering routers / job travelers for production jobs
- Ensure routers accurately reflect manufacturing sequence, outside processing requirements, inspection points, and special customer requirements
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, and operations to update routers when process changes or drawing revisions occur
- Support job release by ensuring routing, BOM, and material requirements are complete and aligned before production starts
Job Tracking & Execution Support
- Track the status of jobs throughout the manufacturing process, including material receipt, internal machining operations, outside processing, inspection, and final shipment
- Follow up with internal departments and external suppliers to keep jobs on schedule and identify risks to delivery commitments
- Maintain accurate status updates in ERP, planning trackers, or internal scheduling tools
- Proactively communicate delays, shortages, or bottlenecks to management and relevant stakeholders
- Help coordinate recovery plans for late jobs or urgent customer requirements
Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, outside processors, and service providers
- Meet with vendors as needed to review capabilities, lead times, quality concerns, and capacity
- Coordinate closely with US-based teams and stakeholders, including participation in meetings and communications that may require flexibility to support US time zones outside normal Malaysia business hours
- Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure alignment on priorities and execution
- Support supplier development and continuous improvement efforts where needed
Qualifications
- Experience in supply planning, production planning, purchasing, procurement, or supply chain coordination in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in precision machining, CNC manufacturing, semiconductor, aerospace, or other high-mix / low-volume manufacturing environments is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with raw material sourcing, outside processing, and vendor management
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, BOMs, routers, and manufacturing workflows
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs, priorities, and supplier follow-ups simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors
- Comfortable supporting cross-functional teams and communicating with US-based personnel across time zones
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, Excel, and job tracking / planning tools preferred
