Working for NASA means amazing mission work, but you trade that for compensation that often lags behind private industry. The federal benefits are a strong point, though.

However, the pay scale just doesn't keep up with private sector jobs in the space exploration industry. You're definitely leaving money on the table compared to big tech or commercial aerospace companies for similar roles. It's tough when you're doing complex scientific work and know others make more.
Try to advocate for better funding to allow for more competitive salaries, especially for technical roles like Aerospace Engineers, to retain top talent against private sector aerospace firms. The mission is great, but compensation matters.
