Stable Job, But Career Growth Can Be Slow

As an Accountant here, I've found it's a solid place for stability, especially in public sector accounting, but don't expect rapid promotions or huge career jumps. It's a structured government body.

Pros

You learn a lot about government finance and auditing standards unique to the Singapore public sector. The job security is solid, which is a big plus. There are also clear internal training programs available for skill development in this corporate environment.

Cons

Career progression for Accountant roles feels pretty structured and can be quite slow. It's definitely not a place for fast-track career growth, especially if you're ambitious. Sometimes, promotions in the Singapore office feel tied more to seniority than pure performance.

Advice to Management

Look into creating faster pathways for high-performing Accountants to advance. Consider more cross-departmental opportunities to broaden skill sets beyond just core public sector accounting. This would really boost career growth opportunities.
