Fast-Paced, but Job Security is Tough
My time at ByteDance as a Software Engineer in Seattle was a whirlwind. Great pay and interesting work on cutting-edge AI, but job security is a real concern with frequent reorganizations.
Working as a Software Engineer here is pretty cool. You get to work on cutting-edge AI algorithms for our social media apps. The compensation package is solid, especially for big tech, and they offer a decent hybrid model in the Seattle office.
Job security here isn't great, though. There are constant reorganizations, and projects can get cut super fast. It feels like you're always wondering if your team will be next on the chopping block. It's tough to settle in.
Try to provide more stability and transparency regarding project longevity and team structures. Constant changes make it hard for employees to feel secure and plan their careers.
