Hybrid work is okay, but not always flexible

Micron Technology offers a decent hybrid work model, especially for engineering roles not tied to direct production. However, flexibility can be limited for those directly involved in semiconductor manufacturing due to strict onsite requirements. Manager discretion also plays a big role in actual work-from-home options.


Pros

The hybrid model is solid for most. As a Senior Process Engineer, I've had some WFH days. It helps balance things when not directly on the production floor in the Boise office.


Cons

But for those in semiconductor manufacturing, onsite requirements are pretty strict. If you're managing DRAM processes, true work flexibility is tough. It really depends on your direct manager too.


Advice to Management

Management should try to standardize WFH expectations across teams, especially for similar semiconductor roles. It feels a bit inconsistent sometimes.
