About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves contributing to projects that build verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing synthetic approaches with human-in-the-loop methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly with high-quality open-source repositories, and will play a key role in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and code quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development by working closely with researchers and engineers on impactful projects that expand dataset coverage across various programming languages and difficulty levels.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional software engineering experience, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java. Strong familiarity with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify real-world projects locally, and contribute to open-source initiatives. Experience in evaluating or contributing to open-source projects is advantageous. Additional skills include excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a proactive approach to collaboration and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges and opportunities for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including environment setup, Dockerization, and dependency management.
- Assess unit test coverage and quality, providing insights for improvements and optimization.
- Modify and run codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that test LLM capabilities effectively.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met.
- Document processes, findings, and best practices to support ongoing project development and knowledge sharing.
