Job Summary
The Cyber Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of security controls and cyber protection measures in a secure and regulated environment, with a focus on Singapore government-related initiatives. The role requires strong technical security knowledge, hands-on experience in cyber defense and security operations, and the ability to support secure delivery in accordance with security, regulatory, and organisational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cyber security controls across infrastructure, applications, endpoints, networks, and cloud environments.
- Support the identification, assessment, and remediation of security vulnerabilities and configuration weaknesses.
- Perform security hardening, patching, and baseline compliance activities for systems and platforms.
- Monitor, analyse, and respond to security alerts, events, and incidents in a timely manner.
- Support incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review.
- Conduct security reviews, risk assessments, and control validation for project and operational environments.
- Implement and support security tooling such as SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, IDS/IPS, IAM and DLP solutions where applicable.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure security requirements are understood and properly implemented.
- Support secure architecture design, security testing, and security sign-off activities.
- Prepare and maintain security documentation, including technical specifications, security assessments, remediation plans, and status reports.
- Ensure compliance with government security requirements, internal policies, and approved security standards and delivery processes.
- Support vendor and third-party coordination for security-related implementation and issue resolution.
- Assist with operational handover, knowledge transfer and ongoing support for security solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in cyber security, infrastructure security or security operations.
- Experience working on government, secure, regulated or enterprise IT environments is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles, security controls, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Proficiency in common security technologies and tools such as SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, IAM, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Requirements
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+, GIAC, or equivalent.
- Experience working in secure environments with strict access control and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with government security processes and/or security-related delivery standards.
- Experience in cloud security, endpoint security, network security, or application security will be an advantage.
- The candidate should be open to cross-training and may be required to support adjacent technical areas based on project needs.
