The Student and Academic Services Department (SASD) is a dedicated team committed to delivering comprehensive support across the entire student life cycle—from admission and matriculation to graduation and beyond the classroom. SASD works collaboratively with schools, colleges, and autonomous institutes to ensure a seamless and enriching academic journey for all students. This position sits with the Student Affairs Office (SAO), which is one of the functions within SASD. The SAO plays a key role in co-creating a meaningful and enriching student life experience through student-led activities, leadership development initiatives, residential life programmed, integration efforts, community engagement initiatives, arts and sports.
The Assistant Manager designs and delivers Transition & Integration initiatives. Specifically, Transition initiatives aim to enable students to transit effectively into and through their university journey, while Integration initiatives aim to enable a positive international student experience and meaningful social integration between local and international students. Through these efforts, the role promotes intercultural understanding, a strong sense of belonging, and student success across the community.
Key Responsibilities
International Student Experience and Integration
- Manage the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of targeted initiatives that support international students’ transition across academic, social, and cultural domains.
- Develop university-wide Integration initiatives that promotes meaningful social mixing between local and international students, including buddy programmes, intercultural dialogues, and community projects.
- Partner with schools, student organisations, residential halls, and central offices to embed integration agenda into the broader student experience.
- Develop metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess Integration outcomes for continuous improvement.
Transition Journey Mapping and Programmes
- Support the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of centralised Transition programmes with the aim of delivering a robust first year transition experience for freshmen.
- Manage the development of a Transition journey map as a guide for students to transit effectively in their first semester, including ensuring its dissemination and active adoption by students.
Scholars Engagement
- Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to ensure that the wellbeing of S&T and ASEAN scholars, both academic and co-curricular, are taken care of throughout their undergraduate years.
- Prepare university-wide reporting to MOE with regards to Integration matters and scholar status.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- At least 3 - 5 years of relevant experience which involves considerable interaction with students; experience in the tertiary education sector will be advantageous.
- Experience in youth development and/or IHL orientation programmes and integration of international students.
- Project management skills in coordinating large-scale projects.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management.
