The Community Development Specialist will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of priority community initiatives across the Asia Pacific region. The role focuses on enabling effective execution across student, CIP aligned, and specialized community initiatives, while building toward deeper program ownership over time.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • The Community Development Specialist will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of priority community initiatives across the Asia Pacific region. The role focuses on enabling effective execution across student, CIP aligned, and specialized community initiatives, while building toward deeper program ownership over time.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for building meaningful connections.
  • What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Support coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement of student focused initiatives across APAC, in partnership with chapters through established chapter engagement structures.
  • Serve as a liaison and coordination point for emerging volunteer, specialized, and CIP aligned community initiatives, supporting intake, readiness, and alignment with chapters and global owners.
  • Identify delivery gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities, and make recommendations to regional leadership.
  • Progressively take on greater ownership of defined programs or initiatives, based on demonstrated capability, clarity of scope, and organizational need.
  • Support additional time bound or ad hoc initiatives as assigned by regional leadership.

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in community management, engagement, development, or a related role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and organizational tools is a plus.
  • Experience supporting multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing timelines and dependencies.
  • Experience working with student, academic, or early-career audiences is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong sense of ownership, follow through, and ability to bring structure to early stage or ambiguous initiatives.
  • Experience in event and/or association management a plus.
  • Experience building and sustaining broad relationship/account management programs and learning culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, including demonstrated team-based operational and strategic results, balancing consistency and localization and communicating with one voice.
  • Proficiency in English is required, as English is PMI’s primary business and working language across the organization.
  • Additional language proficiency is an asset, particularly in Southeast Asian languages (e.g. Tagalog/Filipino, Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Thai), given the regional scope of the role.
  • Travel 10-15%+
