About The Role
As a Junior Settlement Officer (Network Operations – Settlement Operations), you will support the daily execution of settlement activities for various payment schemes, partners, and currency corridors. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and traceability in settlement operations and reconciliation processes. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to build a career in financial operations within the payments industry.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Settlement & Reconciliation
Review and verify daily Settlement Reports across various payment channels (e.g., Scheme, PayNow, FAST, LiquidNet, LiquidPay).Prepare and upload bank files for daily settlement with merchants.Check and confirm that all incoming deposits for cross-border remittance are correctly allocated to clients.Perform daily reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure settlements for all partners have been received and recorded accurately.
Operational Support
Assist in identifying settlement discrepancies and escalate issues promptly to senior team members or managers.Support documentation of settlement procedures, exception handling, and process updates.Assist with integration testing, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities related to settlement workflows.
Process Improvement
Participate in requirement-gathering discussions and help conduct gap analysis of current settlement processes.Support new initiatives to improve automation, efficiency, and accuracy in settlement operations.
Desired Skills And Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or a related field.Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts, transaction processing, and reconciliation.Familiarity with payment instruments (e.g., QR payments, FAST, PayNow) is an advantage.Basic understanding of foreign exchange (FX) concepts, including currency pairs, conversion spreads, settlement risk, and how FX impacts cross-border payment flows.Exposure to hedging fundamentals, such as how simple hedging mechanisms can be used to manage FX exposure for cross-border settlement operations.Basic SQL knowledge (e.g., writing simple queries, filtering, grouping, and joining tables) to support data extraction, analysis, and operational reporting.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookup functions, pivot tables, basic formulas).Comfortable working with operational systems, dashboards, and bank portals.Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling high-volume data.Ability to work under time-sensitive cut-offs in a fast-paced environment.0–2 years of experience in operations, settlements, payment processing, accounting, or financial services.
