We’re seeking a commercially astute and strategic General Manager, Finance to lead financial operations across our global consulting business. This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for a finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys partnering with senior stakeholders to turn financial data into meaningful decisions.


The General Manager, Finance is responsible for providing strong financial insight and leadership to the NMG Consulting business. This role will work closely with the executive team and business leaders to ensure financial reporting requirements are in place to support the achievement of strategic and commercial objectives and growth targets. Responsibilities will also encompass leadership of a small finance team tasked to undertake management reporting, provide financial accounting and controls and manage budgets.


Key to success in this role will see you effectively engage with a globally dispersed group of senior stakeholders, coupled with your strong technical ability, and motivation to understand the complexities of a global business and translate financials into insightful discussion and action. You will be working with a team of driven and highly numerate consultants and leaders who will look to you for guidance on their financial performance, gaps and risks on an ongoing basis.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Financial Direction and Business Partnering

  • Provide insight and analysis to actively support the CEO and other key leaders in decision making
  • Demonstrate a strategic mindset, deriving insights from financial data and recommending innovative solutions to drive performance
  • Lead and manage the annual budgeting process (and quarterly re-forecasts), ensuring a thorough interrogation of assumptions and drivers
  • Partner with stakeholders in the allocation and payment of bonuses as they relate to profit share arrangements, modelling various outcomes and providing guidance as required
  • Identify, lead and undertake ad-hoc analysis and strategic projects as required to drive efficiency and performance
  • Manage the financial planning process for all quarterly, annual and strategic financial plans, presenting outputs to the executive team


Financial Control & Reporting

  • Guide the Head of Accounting and team to deliver effective financial control and reporting including:
  • Overseeing external and internal audit processes
  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate statutory, financial accounting and auditing requirements
  • Ensuring adequate financial controls are in place
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant financial policies and procedures
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts as appropriate
  • Ensure effective risk management processes are in place, including controls and budgets to mitigate potential financial and reputational losses
  • Develop and communicate operational metrics (business intelligence) for all divisions
  • Provide an effective financial reporting system to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Manage the tax strategy of the organisation as efficiently as possible, and report on a regular basis to the Group CFO and the Board on the tax position of the business, highlighting any areas for concern
  • Develop key performance measures and indicators for the business, undertaking analysis against these and reporting key findings to the business heads on an ongoing basis
  • Analyse financial and operational information, identifying strengths and weaknesses and recommending improvements in methods and processes to achieve cost savings and efficiency gains


Project & Management Accounting

  • Collaborate with other accounting team to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization
  • Collecting and analysing data about a company's operational expenditures
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Monitors the progress of projects, investigates variances


Leadership & Management

  • Provide leadership and direction to the NMG Consulting Finance team, ensuring close interaction between the function and the leadership team and sound support to the business
  • Mentor and guide the team to support growth and development of team members
  • Ensure the finance function is provided with adequate navigation, forecasting and business planning tools and procedures

YOUR EXPERIENCE


  • Degree qualified in Accountancy or Finance
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a Finance role
  • Project or cost accounting experience is required (minimum of 2 years)
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing a team
  • A solid commercial understanding with the ability to make recommendations to the business and develop key measures from a financial perspective
  • Experience in stakeholder management, working closely with business leaders on financial reporting and information
  • International exposure or experience, with proven ability to influence across a global remit
  • A strong understanding of accounting software principles
  • Exposure to dashboarding, including PowerBI and SQL
  • Exposure to an ERP system or experience with SAP would be a plus
  • Ability to provide accurate and insightful data that is presented in a clear manner
  • Strong abilities in financial modelling
  • Ability to think outside of the box and flexibly, with a solutions driven mindset
  • Experience in a consulting organisation is preferred, but not essential
