Hey Future Figment Family Member! 👋

Ever dreamt of turning heritage homes into works of art while working from anywhere? We’re Figment—the rebels of hospitality—making the world a more human place to live, one conserved shophouse at a time.

Our boutique hotel-inspired homes have been described as the “Picassos of Singapore’s Built Heritage” (Travel + Leisure), with coverage from NYT, WSJ, The Straits Times, and Channel NewsAsia. We’ve hosted 4,000+ members from companies like Grab, BCG (Boston Consulting Group), and Citi over the past 3+ years.

What Makes This Role Different

Remote‑First, Overseas‑Based: Work from home, a café, or anywhere that inspires you. We’re entirely results and KPI-driven (Key Performance Indicators = measurable outcomes), not face‑time driven.

Monthly On‑Site in Singapore: Expect monthly visits to Singapore for meetings, installs, open houses, and events (more if an exhibition cycle requires it).

Competitive Package: S$2,000–S$2,500/month gross (SGD), depending on experience.

Stability with Purpose: We’re profitable and bootstrapped—backed by real conserved shophouse assets.

Accelerated Growth: Significant responsibilities from day one in a scrappy startup environment.

Global Conservation Mission: We’re pioneering boutique homes globally—bringing conserved residential heritage into the future.

Job Title

Art Curator & Registrar (Residencies + Art Houses) — Malaysia / Indonesia(Remote) | Singapore (Monthly On‑Site)

Monthly Salary: S$2,000–S$2,500/month gross (SGD)

Start Date: Immediate

Job Type: Full‑Time, Remote‑First (Malaysia or Indonesia)

On‑Site: Monthly Singapore visits for events/meetings/installs

Reports To: Creative Director, Figment Museum

What You’ll Do (Your Core Mission)

You’ll shape the artistic soul of Figment’s conserved shophouses—curating residents and artworks that fit the architecture, producing exhibitions and artist residencies with strong project management, building a clean registrar (registrar = the system of record for artworks/objects, their condition, and their locations), and growing revenue via Figment Editions sales.

Key Responsibilities

1) Residency Curation & Artist Relations

  1. Curate and evaluate residency applications; select artists aligned with Figment’s vision and shophouse context.
  2. Serve as the main point of contact for resident artists (onboarding, schedules, production needs).
  3. Guide artists toward site‑responsive outcomes connected to neighborhood + shophouse stories.

2) Exhibitions & Installations (Project Management Required)

  1. Project manage exhibitions, Art House open houses, and residency events end‑to‑end (scope, timeline, budget, vendors, run‑of‑show).
  2. Oversee installation: packing/unpacking, condition checks, hanging, labels, lighting notes, presentation standards.
  3. Coordinate with operations/property teams so art is protected and homes stay guest‑ready.

3) Spatial Curation: Art x Architecture

  1. Curate and suggest artworks that complement each home’s architecture, materials, sightlines, and guest journey.
  2. Collaborate closely with the Creative Director (and interior/project teams) to align art placement with design intent.

4) Registrar / Collections Management Across Figment Homes

  1. Register artworks and objects across Figment Homes (artist/title/medium/dimensions/edition info/provenance/condition/location/images/handling notes).
  2. Maintain ongoing accuracy (movements, audits, condition reports, documentation hygiene).

5) Museum + Art House Storytelling (Not “Marketing”—Interpretation)

  1. Develop narratives across Figment Museum and Figment Art Houses about:
  2. neighborhood history + architecture
  3. artists living/working within the shophouses
  4. “why this work belongs here” interpretive text
  5. Produce interpretive assets: house guides, wall texts, object labels, tour scripts.

6) Figment Print Editions (Sales KPI)

  1. Support the Print Editions pipeline (documentation, certificates, pricing info, inventory, packaging/handling guidance).
  2. Help convert interest into sales through tasteful collector touchpoints during events and private previews.
  3. Coordinate clean handoffs for fulfillment and collector follow-up

7) Grants & Partnerships (Secondary)

  1. Support grant applications and relationships that strengthen residencies/exhibitions.

Key Outcomes (KPIs)

⚠️ Note: Exact targets, timelines, and definitions will be shared during the final interview stage. We believe in aggressive-but-achievable goals with full clarity once you’re in.

Outcome 1: Residency Curation & Artist Experience

• Deliverable: Run residency pipeline + artist support

• Target: ~25 active residencies/year (directional)

• Metric: # active residencies, artist satisfaction score, % on-time onboarding

Outcome 2: Exhibitions & Events Delivered (with PM Excellence)

• Deliverable: Plan + execute monthly Singapore on-site event cycles

• Target: 6-8 event/exhibition cycles/year (directional)

• Metric: # delivered, on-time delivery rate, budget variance, incident/damage rate

Outcome 3: Registrar Built + Maintained (Portfolio-Wide)

• Deliverable: Accurate catalog + location/condition tracking across homes

• Target: 95% registration completeness by Month 2; 100% by Month 6 (directional)

• Metric: completeness %, audit accuracy %, movement logs vs unlogged movements

Outcome 4: Storytelling That Deepens Place

• Deliverable: Interpretation + narratives for Museum + Art Houses

• Target: 1 narrative/interpretation pack shipped per month (directional)

• Metric: # packs shipped, Creative Director review score, guest feedback highlights

Outcome 5: Revenue & Sustainability (Figment Editions + Grants)

• Deliverable: Drive edition sales + support funding pipeline

• Target: Monthly edition sales target (set by inventory + seasonality) + X grants/year

• Metric: Edition sales revenue, units sold, conversion rate, fulfillment SLA; grants submitted/awarded & funding secured

Key Competencies We’re Looking For

Spatial Curatorial Judgment: You can place art with architecture—not just curate for white walls.

Exhibition Production & PM Discipline: Calm, structured execution (PM = project management: scope/timeline/budget/risk).

Registrar Rigor: Documentation discipline; nothing “goes missing,” condition is tracked, locations are always known.

Story Craft: Strong interpretive writing—clear, elegant, human (not ad copy).

Commercial Fluency with Integrity: Comfortable supporting edition sales without cheapening the art.

Remote Execution: Clear async communication, self-management, and reliability.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  1. Degree or equivalent experience in Fine Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or similar.
  2. 2+ years in art curation / exhibition production / gallery or museum work (or demonstrable equivalent).
  3. Comfortable with basic registrar workflows and data hygiene (spreadsheets/Notion/Airtable-style databases).
  4. Strong writing skills (labels, wall texts, short narratives).
  5. Able to travel to Singapore monthly; comfortable doing intensive on-site install/event days.

Nice-to-have

  1. Experience in Southeast Asian art contexts or heritage architecture interpretation.
  2. Experience with editions (documentation, certificates, pricing, collector experience).
  3. Grant writing exposure.
