Job Summary
You will design, analyze, and oversee the construction of various vessels using advanced CAD and simulation tools, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient ship designs.
Responsibilities
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Rhino and GStarCAD to create detailed vessel designs and technical specifications for cargo ships, passenger ferries, warships, submarines, yachts, and offshore platforms
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and physical model testing, to evaluate vessel stability, buoyancy, weight distribution, resistance, and propulsion
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and coordinate with clients, engineers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth build processes
- Ensure all vessel designs and construction comply with international maritime regulations and classification society standards such as DNV and Lloyd's Register
- Supervise construction and repair phases to maintain quality control and adherence to design specifications
- Provide technical consultation on vessel maintenance, repairs, conversions, and investigate faults or accidents to support operational safety and performance
Required Competencies And Certifications
- Proficiency in CAD software (Rhino, GStarCAD) and analysis tools for stability (Maxsurf) and structural integrity (ANSYS)
- Strong mathematical skills in calculus, trigonometry, and physics to perform complex engineering analyses
- Ability to solve complex design and engineering problems creatively and effectively
- Leadership and teamwork skills to communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in vessel design and construction
Preferred Competencies And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field with coursework in fluid mechanics, marine structures, and CAD
