Pros: Buro Happold offers fantastic career growth for structural engineers, especially with exposure to complex projects in the built environment. The teams are collaborative and supportive, making it a strong learning environment. I've gained a lot of valuable technical experience here.
Cons: Promotions can feel a bit slow at times, and we occasionally hit high-workload periods, typical for a busy engineering consultancy. Better communication between different global offices would be a plus.
Advice to Management: Continue focusing on professional development programs and consider streamlining the promotion review process for junior engineers. Enhanced global communication initiatives would also be beneficial for seamless project delivery.

Pros: There's definitely some flexibility with the hybrid model, which is nice. As a structural engineer, I appreciate not being in the Los Angeles office five days a week. For project work in the AEC industry, that flexibility really helps when you need it.
Cons: Project deadlines can get really intense, especially leading up to a submission. It's common to work long hours, way more than 40 hour weeks sometimes. For a global consulting firm, they need to manage workloads better across teams.
Advice to Management: Management needs to address project overload more proactively. Help teams better plan for busy periods so we don't always burn out.

Pros: As a Structural Engineer in the New York City office, the hybrid setup is decent. I can usually work from home a couple of days a week, which helps cut down on commuting during busy building projects.
Cons: True work flexibility is still limited beyond the fixed hybrid model. It's tough to adjust your schedule much, even for personal appointments, if you're deep into a structural design deadline. Don't expect fully remote options for engineering roles; it's mostly in-office.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more flexible core hours and project-based remote work options for experienced engineers. It would really help with retention and overall employee satisfaction.
