Great Place for Learning and Stable Career in Construction
Pros: The team at Gateway Structure is really supportive, which makes a big difference. I've had tons of opportunities to learn about different aspects of civil engineering and project management, which is crucial for a Project Coordinator. It's a stable employer in the construction industry, and the company culture is pretty good overall. Plus, there's decent work flexibility considering it's an onsite role.
Cons: Like any company in construction, we have occasional busy periods where work-life balance can be a bit tricky. Sometimes the internal approval processes can feel a little slow, which might delay things on projects. Career progression, especially for junior roles, can feel a bit slower than I'd like, but there are definitely paths for growth if you're patient.
Advice to Management: Consider streamlining some of the internal approval workflows to help projects move along faster. Also, clearer communication on career development paths for Project Coordinators and other roles could really help employees feel more engaged and see their long-term future here.

Great Place for Growth in Civil Engineering
Pros: Working as a Civil Engineer at Gateway Structure Sdn Bhd has been a really positive experience for my career development. I've gained hands-on experience across various civil engineering and infrastructure projects in Kuala Lumpur. The senior engineers are great mentors, always willing to share their expertise. The team is collaborative, and it feels like a stable place to build a career in the construction industry. I appreciate the continuous learning opportunities here.
Cons: Project deadlines can sometimes lead to longer hours, which impacts work-life balance temporarily. The internal approval processes could be more efficient to avoid delays, especially for procurement in construction. Also, some of the legacy systems for project documentation feel a bit outdated. It would be great to see more investment in modernizing our digital tools.
Advice to Management: Focus on modernizing the tech stack for project management and documentation. Streamlining internal approval workflows would also greatly benefit project timelines and employee efficiency.

Decent place, but work-life balance is tough.
Pros: The team collaboration is pretty good here. You learn a lot about structural engineering on big projects. The Kuala Lumpur office location is convenient for most.
Cons: Long hours are super common in the construction industry, so expect to work past normal hours often. Weekend work isn't rare due to project deadlines. Remote work isn't an option for site-based Project Engineer roles.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into overtime hours for Project Engineers. Bringing in more support staff could help ease the workload and improve work-life balance for everyone.
