Work-life balance is okay, but can be tough.
Pros: I really liked the hybrid work setup; it made commuting to the San Francisco office easier. We get decent PTO, and my team was generally supportive if I needed a day off for personal stuff. It's not a bad place for software development if you're okay with some grind.
Cons: The deadlines for new features can be pretty brutal, making for some intense 50+ hour weeks. There's an expectation to always be 'on,' especially for a startup this size. It's hard to truly disconnect sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines. It would really help with employee burnout.

Leadership has potential, but needs more connection
Pros: The team I worked with was really solid, super collaborative. As a remote Software Engineer, the work-from-home setup is pretty flexible, which is a big plus. We got to work with some interesting tech.
Cons: Leadership can feel a bit out of touch with the day-to-day for individual contributors. It often seemed like management didn't fully grasp the technical challenges we faced. Communication from the top down, especially in a fast-paced tech startup, needs a lot of improvement.
Advice to Management: Engage more directly with your engineering teams. Listen to feedback from the trenches, not just from direct reports. Clearer communication about company direction and technical challenges would help a lot.

Good Remote Gig, But Limited Growth
Pros: The remote work arrangement is really solid for work-life balance. As an entry-level Software Engineer, I learned a lot of basic skills. The team culture was pretty friendly, which helped a lot.
Cons: Career growth for individual contributors feels super slow here at this tech startup. There's no clear path or strong mentorship program to get to senior engineering roles. Opportunities just feel limited.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really think about creating clear career ladders for technical staff. Invest in training and mentorship for engineers looking to advance beyond entry-level positions. It would help with retention for sure.
