Tough Hours, Hybrid Model Has Some Perks
Pros: The hybrid model for Investment Analyst roles is a small win. You can WFH a couple days which helps avoid the New York City commute. It's decent for running errands when you're not in the office.
Cons: But honestly, flexibility is pretty rare in the financial services industry here. Client demands mean you're usually onsite a lot. Don't expect many remote days if deal flow is heavy; that's just how it is.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more predictable WFH days, even with client demands. It would really help with burnout for Investment Analyst teams, especially given the intense deal flow.

Junior Data Analyst

Not much room to grow, honestly
Pros: I learned a lot initially in my role as a Junior Data Analyst, especially on client projects within financial services. The team itself in the New York City office was generally supportive. You do get exposure to some interesting data challenges.
Cons: But there's just no clear path for career growth here at this mid-sized firm. I felt stuck for two years; promotions are rare for data roles, and I didn't get much mentorship. My skills weren't really developing past the basic level.
Advice to Management: Create clearer promotion tracks for junior staff, especially for data analytics roles. Invest in mentorship programs and skill development beyond just client-facing tasks.
