Okay Flexibility, Depends on Your Team
Pros: As a Technical Support Specialist, the remote work setup is a big plus. It's nice not having to commute. For some roles in managed hosting, there's decent work-life balance if you're good at setting boundaries.
Cons: But it's not truly flexible for everyone; some teams are super strict about hours. The on-call rotation, especially for critical cloud infrastructure, can be brutal and messes up your plans. It feels like flexibility is a bit of a lottery here at Rackspace Technology.
Advice to Management: Managers need to apply the remote policy more consistently across departments. Improve the predictability of on-call schedules, especially for those supporting complex cloud services.

Culture's Good, But Career Growth is Tough
Pros: The company culture is genuinely decent; people are friendly and helpful. Working in the San Antonio, TX office with a hybrid model was great, offering good work flexibility. There's a strong sense of teamwork, which is good for new Cloud Engineer hires.
Cons: Career growth can feel pretty slow, especially for technical roles in managed services. It's hard to see a clear path for advancement. Pay isn't always competitive with bigger cloud providers, which is tough.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing clearer career paths and invest more in internal training for cutting-edge cloud infrastructure technologies. Boost compensation to stay competitive in the big tech market.

Good Remote Work, But Job Security Is Shaky
Pros: I really appreciated the work flexibility as a remote Cloud Engineer. It made my daily routine much easier. The team I worked with on managed services projects was awesome and supportive.
Cons: The biggest downside is job security. There's been a lot of corporate restructuring, and layoffs felt pretty constant. You can't really relax, always wondering if your role is next.
Advice to Management: Please try to stabilize the workforce. The constant threat of layoffs really hurts morale and makes people hesitant to commit long-term. Transparency about the company's future direction would help.
