Solid experience, but work-life balance varies a lot
Pros: I loved the variety of client projects; never a dull moment. The hybrid work model in the Austin, TX office gave me good flexibility. My team was great, super collaborative and always willing to help out.
Cons: Work-life balance can be a real struggle, especially during critical IT consulting project deadlines. I often found myself working 50+ hour weeks for several months straight. It's tough when you're on a tight schedule.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and resource allocation to prevent regular crunch times. Investing more in automation for common IT tasks could also lighten the load.

Growth is slow for IT consulting roles
Pros: I've learned a lot about client management and various tech stacks on projects. They have a solid project pipeline for their IT consulting work. The remote work setup is pretty flexible, which is a big plus.
Cons: Career progression for associate consultants feels really slow. There aren't many clear paths to move up in this corporate structure. Sometimes you feel stuck on repetitive tasks in the software development projects, which doesn't help skill building.
Advice to Management: Create more structured career development programs, especially for junior IT consultants. Offer clear mentorship and a path for moving beyond entry-level roles quicker. Invest more in employee skill-building outside of client deliverables.

Okay Pay, Benefits are Pretty Decent Here
Pros: The health benefits are solid, actually. We get good dental and vision, which is a big plus for a mid-sized IT consulting firm. The 401k match is also pretty decent after a year.
Cons: The base pay for Junior IT Consultant roles feels a bit low for Austin, TX. It's hard to feel competitive with larger tech companies. Annual raises don't really keep up with inflation.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the compensation bands for all IT consulting roles, especially for junior staff in high-cost-of-living areas like Austin. Retention will suffer otherwise.
