Pros: Working as a Project Engineer at Petrofac in Sharjah gave me incredible exposure to large-scale international energy projects. I've learned so much about the oil and gas industry and project management. The teams are generally very supportive, and there are good opportunities to develop your technical skills. Compensation is competitive for the sector, which is definitely a plus, and the benefits package is pretty standard.
Cons: Project timelines can get really demanding, especially during critical phases, which sometimes means long workweeks. The internal approval processes can also be a bit slow at times, which can be frustrating when you're trying to move things forward quickly.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining internal processes to improve project efficiency and reduce employee frustration during peak periods. Clearer communication regarding career progression paths would also be beneficial.

Pros: You get solid exposure to huge energy projects, which is great for any junior engineering roles. The Sharjah office team was generally supportive, especially senior engineers willing to teach. The benefits package was pretty standard for the region.
Cons: The company culture can feel really traditional and bureaucratic sometimes. Decision-making is slow, and there's not much flexibility for hybrid work or modern approaches. It's definitely a very corporate environment, not a startup.
Advice to Management: Try to modernize the company culture a bit. Empower teams and speed up decision processes.

Pros: The big EPC projects are interesting. You learn a lot if you're new to the oil and gas industry. Some project managers are decent and let you adjust your schedule if you finish tasks early.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't really a thing here. For Process Engineer roles, you're pretty much expected onsite daily in the Sharjah office. It's a very corporate environment, so WFH is rare, making work-life balance tough.
Advice to Management: Consider a true hybrid model for non-site-based roles. It's what people want these days and could help with retention.
