Solid Benefits, Leadership Can Be Disconnected
Pros: The pay is competitive, and benefits are pretty good for a big tech company. I appreciated the flexibility of the hybrid model, splitting time between home and the Houston office. You get a good sense of stability working here, especially in enterprise hardware.
Cons: Upper leadership often feels out of touch with day-to-day operations for Project Manager roles. It's tough to get quick decisions, which bogs down progress on new IT solutions. I felt career growth could be clearer too.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with mid-level managers and individual contributors. Make decision-making processes faster and clearer. Also, be more transparent about career progression within IT solutions and Project Management.

Decent place for steady work, not rapid growth
Pros: The benefits are good, and job security feels solid in the Palo Alto office. There's a lot of knowledge here, especially for those interested in enterprise hardware or printing solutions. It's a stable corporate environment.
Cons: Career progression as a Software Engineer isn't very clear. Getting promotions can be tough, often feels like you're waiting for someone to leave. Innovation moves slowly in this big tech setting.
Advice to Management: Managers need to create clearer paths for career advancement, especially for technical roles. Encourage more internal movement and skill development.

Hybrid Work Model Is Just Okay Here
Pros: It's a big tech company, so they do offer a hybrid model. As a Software Engineer, I could usually work from home a couple days a week. It helps with the Palo Alto commute, for sure.
Cons: But it's not fully remote, and some teams have strict onsite rules. Work flexibility really depends on your manager, which can be tough. There's not much wiggle room if you need more WFH days.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid policy more across departments. Give managers better guidance on how to offer consistent flexibility, especially for tech roles.

Hybrid Model Helps, Still Demanding
Pros: I've really liked the hybrid work model here, especially for a big tech company. It's a solid balance between remote and in-office days in our Palo Alto, CA office. For us Software Engineer roles, that flexibility is a big plus.
Cons: The actual workload for a Software Engineer can get pretty intense, though. Deadlines are often tight, and it's tough to consistently stick to 40-hour weeks. There's pressure to put in extra hours, which definitely impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines. Help teams manage scope better to prevent burnout for technical staff.

Leadership can be a real mixed bag
Pros: I liked the flexibility for hybrid work in the San Jose office. The pay and benefits are solid for a big tech company. There's a lot of smart people working here, which makes the day-to-day good.
Cons: Leadership often makes decisions that don't make sense for the engineering teams. There's not enough clear vision from upper management, especially for Software Engineer roles. Promotions feel slow and sometimes arbitrary, like they're not really looking at performance.
Advice to Management: Management needs to get closer to the teams and understand daily operations better. More transparency in decision-making and a clearer career path for technical staff would help a lot.

Solid place for engineers, but job security varies
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the Palo Alto office, I had pretty good benefits and the hybrid model was decent. It's a big tech company, so there's a lot of infrastructure to support employees. Work-life balance was generally okay, not too demanding.
Cons: Job security here isn't what it used to be. You'll see corporate reorgs and layoffs happen fairly often, especially impacting roles outside core hardware development. It makes you feel a bit on edge sometimes, which can be tough.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent about upcoming changes and reorgs. It would really help with employee morale and reduce anxiety about job security.

Solid Big Tech, Mixed Flexibility
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer at HP's Houston campus, I appreciate the hybrid model. It's usually 3 days in office, 2 WFH, which is solid for a big tech company. The ability to occasionally shift hours for appointments is a plus.
Cons: True work flexibility often depends heavily on your team and manager. Some departments are very strict about the 3-day onsite rule, making it hard to get more remote days. It feels less flexible than other tech industry roles I've heard about.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility across teams, or at least give managers clear guidelines. It would really help with morale if remote work options were more consistent.

Growth is Slow for Technical Roles at HP
Pros: You get decent benefits and the job security is good for a big tech company. There are some internal training platforms available, which is nice. For new grads, it's a stable entry point into the enterprise hardware industry.
Cons: Career growth here is definitely slow for technical roles. Promotions are few and far between, and it feels like you're often pigeonholed into your current project. It's hard to switch teams or get new responsibilities in this corporate environment without a lot of internal politicking, especially for those in the hybrid model.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to create clearer career paths and make internal mobility easier. Recognize talent better instead of making people wait years for a promotion. Improve visibility for technical roles.

HP offers decent stability, but keep an eye out
Pros: It's a big tech company, so there's a certain level of stability for a Software Engineer. The benefits package is pretty solid too. You don't have to worry about the company vanishing overnight, especially with the established printer hardware and enterprise solutions business.
Cons: Layoffs are always a whisper in a corporate environment this large, which is a common concern in big tech. The company does restructure now and then, and that can make job security feel a bit shaky if your team is impacted. It's not a startup, but there are still occasional worries.
Advice to Management: Communicate more openly about company direction and potential team changes. It would help a lot with employee morale and reduce the constant low-level anxiety about job security for employees in tech roles. Transparency is key.

Solid place, but pay could be better for big tech
Pros: The benefits package is actually pretty solid. I appreciated the health insurance and the 401k match, which isn't bad for a corporate environment. The work-life balance for my software engineer role in Houston, TX was also surprisingly good.
Cons: Compensation isn't competitive, especially for experienced engineering talent. Base salary felt a bit low compared to market rates for similar big tech roles. Merit increases are small and can feel like an afterthought.
Advice to Management: You really need to re-evaluate compensation bands for engineering roles. Retaining top talent will be tough if pay isn't competitive with the broader tech industry.
