Okay balance, depends on your team here
Pros: I've enjoyed the hybrid model; it's great for flexibility. As a Software Engineer, I can usually hit my deadlines without staying super late if I manage my time well. The big tech benefits are solid.
Cons: Sometimes project scope for us in Seattle means long sprints. It can be tough to completely unplug, especially if you're on a critical development cycle. There's pressure, it's just part of working here.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project expectations and scope to prevent burnout in core engineering teams.

Decent big tech, but job security's shaky.
Pros: The salary and benefits are solid for a big tech company. The hybrid model is great for work-life balance, letting me work from home a few days. We get interesting challenges in software development.
Cons: Job security is really tough. We saw significant layoffs impacting engineering teams in the Seattle office, which makes everyone nervous. Management hasn't been super clear about future plans, so there's a lot of uncertainty.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be way more transparent with employees, especially about financial stability and future headcount. More open communication could really help reduce the fear and uncertainty people feel after the recent changes.

Culture is okay, but it's hit or miss
Pros: My specific team in the Austin, TX office was super supportive. We had a solid bond, which made daily software development tasks feel less stressful. There's a pretty relaxed dress code, which is nice.
Cons: Upper management doesn't always seem to get the struggles of individual agile teams. Some departments have really cliquey cultures, making it hard for new hires to fit in. The company culture can feel pretty inconsistent across different parts of this growing tech company.
Advice to Management: Try to ensure consistent culture and support across all engineering teams, not just the visible ones. Listen more to feedback from individual contributors.

Pay's Okay, Benefits Could Be Stronger
Pros: The base salary for a new software engineer here is pretty good for Austin, TX. You get a decent 401k match, which is a plus. It's a stable gig working for a big tech company.
Cons: Health benefits aren't great, and the cost feels high. Raises are slow, so total compensation doesn't jump much year-to-year. Doesn't feel competitive compared to fully remote options.
Advice to Management: Look at improving the health benefits package to be more competitive. Also, review the compensation structure to ensure raises keep pace with inflation and market rates, especially for mid-level software engineers.

Culture is Okay, Needs Some Work
Pros: My immediate team for software development is pretty solid. We collaborate well, which is nice for a remote setup. It's a big tech company, so resources are usually there when you need them.
Cons: The company culture across the board isn't always clear. It feels like different departments have their own vibe, which is tough with everyone remote from places like Seattle. Leadership doesn't always foster a strong unified bond.
Advice to Management: Try to build a more cohesive company culture, especially for remote employees. Maybe more consistent communication or virtual team-building events would help bridge the gaps.
