Pay's okay, but benefits could be better
Pros: The health insurance is solid, it's pretty comprehensive which is a relief. There's also a decent 401k match, which helps with retirement planning. As a Software Engineer in the Austin, TX office, the project work is often challenging and keeps things interesting.
Cons: The base salary isn't very competitive for big tech roles, especially for experienced engineering talent. Bonuses are rare, and stock options aren't part of the standard compensation package here at this mid-size tech company. Work-life balance can get tough during crunch times, making the "okay" pay feel less worth it for a hybrid work arrangement.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate the compensation bands for engineering roles to be more competitive, especially for experienced Software Engineers. It's hard to attract and retain top talent when other tech companies offer so much more.
