Pros: The base salary for a Program Officer is okay here. It's on par with what I've seen in the broader non-profit sector. You do get a decent basic health plan. That's a good safety net for general medical needs.
Cons: The benefits package isn't great, especially for a family-owned foundation. It's definitely not competitive. Don't count on much for retirement matching or generous paid time off. This is tough for an onsite role. I've honestly seen better perks at smaller organizations focused on education initiatives.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the total compensation package, especially benefits, to attract and retain top talent in the non-profit sector. A more robust retirement plan and better PTO would really make a difference for employees.
