Pros: Mace Group is a strong choice for construction and consultancy. The London team is very supportive; colleagues always help. We get constant learning opportunities on varied global projects. The hybrid work model is a big plus, giving me flexibility. It's a stable company with exciting, diverse work.
Cons: Career progression can feel a bit slow, and the path isn't always crystal clear. Also, as a large global firm, some internal approval processes are bureaucratic, causing minor delays for my project coordinator tasks.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval processes to reduce project delays. Also, more transparent communication regarding career progression paths would be beneficial for employees at all levels.

Pros: Honestly, they do try with the work flexibility; I get to use a hybrid model, which is a big plus. For us in the construction industry, that's not always a given. The London office has a good vibe among colleagues, which makes tough days better.
Cons: Work-life balance can definitely suffer during crunch times; 50-60 hour weeks aren't uncommon, especially in project delivery roles. It's just part of the large construction firm life, but it still makes it hard to switch off.
Advice to Management: Focus on truly empowering teams to manage their project delivery timelines better, reducing the constant crunch for Project Manager roles. Support work-life balance more actively.

Pros: You get some WFH days, which is a solid perk. For my Project Engineer role, I could usually work from home 2 days a week. It helps a bit with the commute to the London office, especially for administrative tasks in this corporate setting.
Cons: Flexibility isn't consistent across all construction projects. Some site work demands you're onsite 5 days, no exceptions for these roles. It's tough when your team or project manager has different expectations than the general company policy, making true work-life balance a challenge.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize work flexibility across all teams and construction projects. Make sure site-based roles have clear expectations for hybrid options, or offer better benefits to compensate for the lack of flexibility.
