Good Place for Tech, Solid Leadership
Pros: Working here, you get to be part of an innovative lighting tech company, which is exciting. My colleagues are super collaborative, and there are lots of learning opportunities, especially if you're into smart lighting and IoT development. Management really tries to support team members and encourages skill development. It's a generally stable environment.
Cons: Sometimes the internal approval processes can feel a bit slow or bureaucratic, which can definitely impact project velocity, especially in a fast-paced software engineering environment. Also, while the immediate leadership is strong, communication flows across some of the larger, global teams could sometimes be a little clearer. It would help avoid redundancies and keep everyone aligned on our lighting technology initiatives.
Advice to Management: Continue to streamline internal approval processes to boost project velocity. Focus on improving cross-functional communication strategies, especially between large global teams, to ensure everyone is aligned on our smart lighting and IoT objectives.

Pretty good flexibility, but team dependent
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the lighting solutions industry, I've found that the hybrid model at Signify is actually pretty flexible. We get to work from home a couple of days a week, which is nice for balancing personal life. My manager is usually fine if I need to shift hours a bit.
Cons: The downside is it's really team-dependent. Some teams have less flexibility, and you're expected to be onsite more often. Full remote isn't really an option here, even for roles that seem like they could be.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more fully remote options for certain roles. Standardize flexibility policies across all teams.

Decent Hybrid Model for Engineers, Room for Improvement
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model; it's really helpful. WFH a couple days a week makes a big difference for life in the Piscataway, NJ area. For Software Engineer roles, this work arrangement is pretty solid and aids work-life balance.
Cons: It's not truly remote; you still have to be in the office a few days, which limits some flexibility. Sometimes project deadlines in the smart lighting industry mean less WFH, even with the hybrid setup. The core office hours can be a bit rigid too.
Advice to Management: Give teams more autonomy on WFH days. True work flexibility means trusting employees to get work done, not just setting office attendance quotas. It would really help morale and retain talent in the competitive tech industry.
