Hybrid flexibility is fine, but needs work
Pros: The hybrid setup means I'm not stuck in the Toronto office every single day, which really helps with personal appointments. For Client Support Specialist roles, you do get some decent flexibility to swap shifts with teammates if something urgent pops up. It's a solid company in the payment processing industry, which provides good job security.
Cons: The WFH policy feels a bit rigid with mandatory in-office days, even when my specific tasks could be done remotely. I wish there was more autonomy for remote employees, especially as a Client Support Specialist, to decide when coming into the office makes sense. It impacts genuine work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the mandatory in-office days for roles that can be fully effective remotely. Trust your employees more to manage their own time and work location, especially those not client-facing. A more flexible hybrid or even fully remote option for some roles would boost morale.

Leadership's fine, but sometimes feels detached.
Pros: The company offers solid job security, which is great for anyone in the FinTech space. My direct manager for the Software Developer team in the Toronto office is generally supportive and helpful. It's an established corporate environment, so there's good infrastructure.
Cons: Senior leadership can often feel pretty far removed from the daily grind and technical challenges faced by us Software Developers. Decision-making for new payment processing initiatives can be slow and bureaucratic. There's not always a clear, exciting vision for where the company is headed in the competitive FinTech market.
Advice to Management: Try to be more visible and engaged with the individual contributors, especially those of us in technical roles. Faster decisions on FinTech product roadmaps would really help boost morale and innovation.

Decent Benefits, Pay Lags for Tech Roles
Pros: The benefits package here is pretty solid, especially the health and dental coverage. It's what you'd expect from a big corporate environment. The hybrid work model is a nice perk too.
Cons: But the pay for a Software Developer in the Toronto office feels a bit low for the payment processing industry. Raises aren't very competitive, and there aren't many performance bonuses either. You just don't feel like you're keeping up.
Advice to Management: Moneris needs to review its compensation structure for tech roles, specifically for Software Developers, to stay competitive in the Toronto market. Performance bonuses would also help with motivation.
