Okay for a smaller biotech CRO
Pros: The team in the Cambridge office is genuinely collaborative. You learn a lot if you're new to preclinical pharmacology, especially with drug discovery projects. There's a decent amount of hands-on experience for a Research Scientist.
Cons: Company culture feels a bit stagnant. It's not always clear who makes decisions, which is common in smaller biotech companies. Work-life balance can be tough with demanding onsite lab work.
Advice to Management: Improve transparency from leadership and clarify career paths for Research Scientist roles. A better effort towards work-life balance for those with extensive onsite lab work would help retention.

Leadership tries hard, but needs more focus
Pros: Some of the senior team genuinely care about the science. You get decent exposure to varied drug discovery work here. My direct supervisor was good at supporting day-to-day tasks.
Cons: Upper management's vision changes frequently. This makes long-term planning tough for us Research Scientists. Communication from the top isn't consistent, which causes confusion. It feels like they're still figuring things out.
Advice to Management: Try to set a clearer, more stable strategy. Improve communication with the teams on the ground. Empower direct managers more to make decisions.
