Working at Action is different to working anywhere else. The core of what we do is simple: surprising our customers with a broad and ever-changing assortment of everyday necessities (like cleaning or sanitary products) or products that make daily life easier or more enjoyable, always at the lowest price. And we’re not doing this alone. We provide jobs to more than 84,000 colleagues helping us build on our success and a great shopping experience for our customers.

Action is growing fast and our growth will continue in the coming years. The first store opened in 1993, and today, we have over 3,300 stores across 15 countries – with more opening every week. Our growth comes with a responsibility that we accept and embrace. We believe that it is possible to continue to offer our surprising assortment at the lowest price, while improving the quality and sustainability of our products. We make sure Action customers feel good about their visit to our stores – small prices, big smiles. Being cost-conscious makes us, by nature, very aware of conserving resources and limiting waste. Even so, we have an ambitious sustainability agenda and have made a lot of progress in recent years.

Serving our customers, our employees are the beating heart of Action. Next to our formula, they are the foundation of our success. At Action, you can expect personal attention, strong benefits, safe working conditions, and ample opportunities for personal growth and development. Every new store we open means new jobs. We create thousands of new jobs yearly, on every level. We work together to grow Action. And as Action grows, we all grow with the company.

Slow Growth for Product Roles, Decent Otherwise
Pros: I've learned a lot working on various SaaS solutions. You get decent exposure to the whole product lifecycle. The fully remote work arrangement is great, saving a ton of time on commuting.
Cons: Career progression is a big struggle here. There's not much of a clear path for product roles, which is tough. Getting promoted feels like it takes ages, even for a mid-sized tech company. It's hard to see what's next for your career.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer career paths for individual contributors. We also need more structured mentorship, especially for junior product managers. It would help a lot with retention.

Hybrid is okay, but could be better for Marketing
Pros: They do offer a hybrid work model, which is nice. You get to work from home two days a week, and that really helps with the Austin, TX traffic. It's a decent setup if you're looking for some WFH without being fully remote, especially for digital marketing roles.
Cons: The "flexible hours" they talk about are a bit of a myth for roles like mine. You're still tied to strict core business hours for team and client meetings. If you're managing client accounts, it means less actual flexibility than advertised, and the Austin office really expects you in often.
Advice to Management: Consider giving employees, especially those not client-facing, more true flexibility outside of core hours. It would boost morale and make Action stand out for work-life balance.

Hybrid work is okay for engineers
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the hybrid model means I can work remote two days a week. It's a solid perk. There's also decent flexibility for personal appointments if you communicate it upfront. The Austin office is modern too.
Cons: Fully remote positions are really hard to get, even for senior technical roles. You're expected in the Austin office three days a week, pretty much non-negotiable. Core hours can feel restrictive on office days.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the fully remote policy, especially for experienced technical roles. More flexibility could really help with talent retention.
