Software Engineer

Good Place for Tech Professionals with Solid Flexibility
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time here as a Software Engineer. The work-life balance is pretty solid, which is a big deal for me. We have a great hybrid work model, allowing for real work flexibility that helps manage personal commitments. The team is super supportive, always willing to help out and collaborate on projects. It's a good environment to learn and develop new skills in the software industry.
Cons: One thing that could be smoother is the approval process for new features; sometimes it feels a bit slow, which can delay project timelines and impact our sprint goals. Also, while there are learning opportunities, career advancement for software engineers can sometimes feel a little gradual. You need to really push for those next steps, but it is achievable with effort.
Advice to Management: Streamline the approval processes to avoid project delays and provide clearer pathways for career advancement for technical staff.

Leadership is okay, but needs consistency
Pros: You get some solid managers who really care about your growth. They'll actually help you navigate complex master-planned communities issues. The support from peers is also a big plus for onsite staff.
Cons: Leadership consistency is a problem across the mid-sized corporate structure. Some senior leaders seem out of touch with what frontline Community Managers deal with daily. This can lead to frustration and feeling unheard in our Phoenix, AZ office.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing a unified leadership approach. Train all senior staff to better support frontline roles like Community Managers, especially concerning HOA management challenges.

Pay is Okay, Benefits Need a Boost
Pros: As a Community Manager, the base salary for this onsite role in Scottsdale, AZ, is decent enough to live comfortably. You get standard PTO and holiday pay, which is what you'd expect.
Cons: The healthcare benefits are definitely a letdown; plans are expensive with high deductibles. Plus, the 401k match is pretty weak, and there's not much room for salary growth, even for experienced folks in master-planned communities.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at enhancing the benefits package, especially healthcare options, to attract and retain talent in the competitive HOA management industry. A better 401k match would also go a long way.

Solid company, but flexibility is a struggle
Pros: The benefits package is decent, and I've always felt secure in my Community Manager role here. The team in the Phoenix, AZ office is generally supportive and friendly, which makes the day-to-day bearable. It's a stable corporate environment if you prefer that structure.
Cons: Work flexibility is almost non-existent for Community Management positions. You're expected to be onsite most days, making it tough to handle personal appointments or unexpected issues. There's not really a hybrid or remote option, which feels outdated in this industry.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more flexible work options, even a hybrid model, for Community Manager roles. It would really help with employee morale and retention.

Work-Life Balance is a Challenge for Managers
Pros: The team in the Scottsdale, AZ office was generally supportive, which helped when things got crazy. You do get decent benefits once you're vested. Some non-managerial roles probably have it easier.
Cons: As a Community Manager, you're constantly on call, even on weekends. There's just a ton of responsibility. Expect to work more than 40 hours most weeks; it's tough to truly disconnect in this HOA industry role.
Advice to Management: Think about better ways to manage the workload for Community Manager positions. Adding more support staff or clarifying on-call expectations would really help prevent burnout and improve employee retention.

Leadership Needs to Connect More with the Frontline
Pros: My colleagues are solid, really great to work with day-to-day. The work itself, as a Community Manager, can be rewarding when you help residents. Plus, the benefits package is decent for our industry.
Cons: Leadership often feels out of touch with what we actually do. Decisions from higher-ups can be confusing for HOA management operations. There's not enough clear direction or feedback from senior management, which is frustrating.
Advice to Management: Listen to your frontline Community Managers. We know what's happening with residents and properties. Better communication and understanding of daily tasks would make a huge difference. Invest in leadership training too.

Culture is okay, work can be tough
Pros: The best part is definitely the local site team. We really bonded working in community association management. You get to meet a lot of interesting people in the Irvine, CA office.
Cons: The overall company culture can feel a bit cliquey, especially at the corporate level. As a Community Manager, I often felt like my ideas weren't always heard. It's a very traditional, corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more inclusive environment across all levels, not just within individual site teams. Listen to your on-site property management staff more.

Career Growth is a Slow Burn Here
Pros: You'll definitely get solid experience in residential services and community management. They do offer some internal training, which helps you learn the ropes. It's a stable company, which is a plus for job security.
Cons: Career growth is pretty slow, even as a dedicated Community Manager. There aren't many clear advancement paths beyond moving up to a senior role, and those positions are rare in the Scottsdale, AZ office. You kinda have to wait for someone to leave.
Advice to Management: Management should really focus on creating clearer and quicker career paths for their community management professionals. It'd make people feel more invested.

Solid Choice for Property Management Stability
Pros: Job security here is pretty good for Community Manager roles. The company operates in the property management industry, which is always in demand, so clients are steady. You're usually safe if you do your work in this corporate environment.
Cons: Growth can be slow, though. Sometimes internal promotions are few and far between, which makes you feel a bit stuck in an onsite role. The pay isn't top tier for the workload, either.
Advice to Management: Look into clearer paths for career growth and review compensation for our onsite roles. It would really help with employee retention and morale.
